Basalt fabrics are typically used in place of fiberglass or carbon fiber and are suited for applications requiring high mechanical strength. Basalt fabrics regularly outperform standard E-glass in demanding applications and are close in performance to specialty fibers like S-glass, carbon, and chemical resistant glass but at a fraction of the cost.
Basalt is also known for its use as a high temperature material. Because basalt is made from Volcanic (Basalt) rock (containing plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine), it can retain its integrity in continuous temperatures up to 800F(400C) and short term in temperatures up to 1900F(1050C).
This fabric is tightly weaved and uniquely suited to be used as a high temperature barrier.
This fabric is also compatible with epoxy/polyurethane resins.
Tensile Strength: 3100 MPa, Tensile Modulus: 88-92 GPa, Elongation: 3.5%

***When purchasing multiple yards of the same fabric you will receive one continuous length of that material. It will be rolled, covered in plastic, and shipped in a cardboard tube to keep the fabric in its first quality condition.***
